Privacy Policy

Cleancut is a Mac app made by NETTRACK LLC (“we”). This policy covers the app, the Cleancut AI service it uses, and this website. The short version: your recordings stay on your Mac, the AI sees text only and only after you allow it, and we keep no account, no analytics and nothing you said.

What stays on your Mac

• Your recordings, audio and video. They are never uploaded.
• Transcripts. Cleancut transcribes your voice with Apple’s on-device speech recognition.
• Text read from your screen. Cleancut reads it on-device with Apple’s Vision framework, only during silent stretches of a recording.
• Your projects and edits, saved as files where you choose.
• Your own API key, if you add one, stored in your Mac’s Keychain.

What is sent for AI cuts

Cutting dead air never sends anything. For AI cuts (retakes, false starts, silent detours), Cleancut sends two kinds of text, and only after you allow it in the app:

• the transcript of your voice, and
• the text on your screen during silent stretches. Anything that looks like an API key, token or password is replaced with [secret] before it leaves your Mac.

Where it goes depends on your setting:

• Cleancut AI (with Cleancut Pro): the text goes to our server, hosted on Cloudflare, which passes it to Vercel AI Gateway and on to Anthropic’s Claude to choose the cuts. Our server does not store or log the text. Vercel and Anthropic process it to produce the answer, under their own terms.
• Your own key: the text goes to the endpoint you set, under that provider’s terms. It does not pass through us.

You can turn off sending in Settings. Cleancut then asks again before the next AI request.

Subscriptions

Apple handles purchases. We never see your name, email address or payment details. To use Cleancut AI, the app sends us the subscription record Apple signs for your purchase, which contains the product, its dates and an anonymous transaction ID. Apple also tells our server about refunds, so a refunded subscription stops working.

To apply the monthly allowance, our server records, per anonymous transaction ID and month, how much AI use cost and how many requests were made. Nothing else is stored. Email support@getcleancut.app to have these records deleted.

What we don’t do

• No accounts or sign-in.
• No analytics, tracking or advertising, in the app or on this website. This site sets no cookies.
• We don’t sell or share your data, and we don’t use it to train AI models.

Children

Cleancut is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
