Recording asks for permission again

Cleancut needs Screen Recording and Microphone access. Turn them on in System Settings → Privacy & Security. macOS applies a new Screen Recording permission only after the app restarts, so use Quit & Reopen in the Record window.

A project says media is missing

Cleancut links to your recordings instead of copying them. If you moved or renamed them, or the drive isn’t connected, click Locate… next to the file in the Media panel. Pick the file, or the folder that holds your recordings to relink them all at once.

Only dead air was cut

• AI cuts need Cleancut Pro, or your own API key in Settings.
• If you chose Cut Silence Only when Cleancut asked to send text to the AI, run Auto Edit again and choose Allow. You can review this in Settings → Privacy.
• If this month’s Cleancut AI allowance is used up, Auto Edit cuts dead air only until it resets on the 1st (UTC).

Cleancut Pro

• Restore: on a new Mac, open Settings → Cleancut AI → Subscribe… and choose Restore Subscription.
• Cancel or change plan: App Store subscriptions, or Settings → Cleancut AI → Manage Subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Requirements

A Mac with macOS 26 or later. Transcription and screen reading run on your Mac.
